Service One Mutual Newsletter May 2025
A Message from Our CEO

As we step into another quarter, I want to share some of the incredible momentum we’ve built across the SERVICE ONE community.
SERVICE ONE Mutual continues to operate to provide financial services to members, and we now use the Community Bank model under a franchise agreement with Bendigo Bank to deliver these services. You remain a member of the Mutual, which not only supports your banking needs but also offers added member benefits and invests in meaningful community projects.
From life-saving initiatives like the StreetBeat AED program to celebrating local spirit at events like the Royal Canberra Show, the Newcastle Show, Home and Lifestyle Show and the Cooma Show, our commitment to creating lasting impact continues to grow. Thanks to your ongoing support, we’re building safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

Already, six AEDs have been installed at Deakin, Denman Prospect, Kingston Foreshore, and shopping centres in Cook, Curtin, and Calwell—with more to come. We’re working closely with the ACT Government to roll out the remaining devices by October 2025.
We’re also excited to unveil a unique new initiative: the Snowy Mountains Edition of Monopoly. Featuring iconic local landmarks, this special edition supports regional charities including the Community Chest – Cooma, Snowy Mountains Wildlife Rescue (LAOKO), and Ski Patrol. It launches this July with exclusive presale access and discounts for members, so keep an eye on your inbox and our socials!
To further support you, we’re launching the SERVICE ONE Seminar Series: free, expert-led sessions covering retirement planning, aged care, online safety, and more. Sessions will be held in-person at our Deakin office, but we’ll also be recording them so you can catch up at your convenience.
We continue to back social enterprises through our support of Mill House Ventures, and we’re especially proud to see the impact of that work reflected nationally. This year, one of the GRIST alumni was named Australian of the Year, and Sunita Kotnala - CEO of Women's Shed Canberra, who was supported through the ACT Social Enterprise Grant, was recognised as Canberra Citizen of the year 2025.
In addition to these initiatives, we’ve proudly sponsored events and organisations that reflect our values. From bringing the Farmyard Nursery to life at the Royal Canberra and Newcastle Shows, to being the naming partner of the 150th Cooma Show, our aim is to connect with the communities we serve. We’ve also supported the Tuggeranong Vikings Bowls Club, The Canberra Pirates, JATAFF, and vital services such as Ronald McDonald House Charities and Menslink.
Through thoughtful sponsorships, community partnerships, and financial education, SERVICE ONE remains dedicated to putting people first. Thank you for being part of our growing community.
Warm regards,
Ivan Slavich
CEO

As Animal Nursery sponsors, we enjoyed connecting with families and showcasing what SERVICE ONE stands for.
Our team shared personalised advice and flexible home loan options to help locals turn their dream homes into reality.
As naming partners, we celebrated this milestone event and honoured the region’s rich agricultural traditions.

We’re proud to support Menslink’s free counselling and mentoring for young men across Canberra—helping build a stronger, more resilient next generation.
Our continued partnership supports a calm, comforting space for families facing tough times.
Thanks to your generosity, our eight-branch donation drive supported charities like Hands Across Canberra, Got Your Back Sista, and Monaro Family Support—bringing joy to hundreds of families.
