Digital pay solutions available soon

Attention: open in a new window. Print

15 January 2019: In the past couple of Member newsletters we advised of digital enhancements such as the implementation of the New Payments Platform as well as introducing digital pay solutions. SERVICE ONE is pleased to confirm Apple Pay, Google PayTM and Samsung Pay will become available for Members early in 2019.

In line with expectations SERVICE ONE will shortly be making various digital pay solutions available to Members, including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. These enhancements, along with the recently introduced New Payments Platform capability will see Members able to transact using the latest available technology.

Tony Brown, General Manager – Banking, provides some insight into the types of features SERVICE ONE Members can look forward to.

“The digital pays project has progressed to the point where we will soon be entering the testing phase and hope to roll out these solutions late February/early March. And our Members can expect some great features, including in-App provisioning for Apple Pay which means Members will be able to add an eligible access card straight to their Apple Wallet from within the SERVICE ONE App, replacement or renewal cards ordered will automatically refresh in the Apple Wallet if linked to Apple Pay and Members can conduct Apple Pay transactions while they wait for the physical card to turn up in the post,” Mr Brown explains.

SERVICE ONE recently lifted certain withdrawal limits, including daily contactless limits, in part, to better accommodate digital pay solutions.

“Some Members expressed their concerns when we advised of the higher withdrawal limits. And while it’s true, higher withdrawal limits come with greater risks, card fraud data (at a broader industry level) largely suggests the vast majority of fraud is still being conducted through card-not-present transactions such as online purchases – not contactless transactions. Members should keep in mind if they abide by card and PIN safety guidelines, generally, they will not be held liable for any fraudulent transactions conducted on these cards and linked accounts,” Mr Brown said.

In order to access these digital pay solutions, Members will need to have the SERVICE ONE App to authenticate the eligible access card and link this to the respective digital wallet. If the App is not currently being used, it can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play now. Further communication will be issued once the digital pay solutions are launched and ready to go.
